I tend to stay away from politics but this is something heavy on my heart and I wanted to express my thoughts into some words. This is my outlet for such…
My heart hurts for us all once again or still. As more and more is taken away from us.
Several thoughts:
1. This “my body my choice” is not the same as being strongly encouraged to get vaxxed. You aren’t criminally prosecuted for not being vaxxed. You can be turned away from things the same as if you aren’t wearing shoes or a shirt.
2. You and I may have different thoughts or opinions. I respect that but if you want a 16 year old girl to carry a pregnancy that doesn’t pose any immediate health risks, you are ignorant.
3. My medical records history states “abortion- early pregnancy spontaneous abortion”. I had to have life saving surgery. But if that were to happen in the future possibly in another state, heaven forbid, a criminal investigation would be launched to determine if it was really my life or the babies life at risk. I had to have medical staff cut into my body to remove a fetus. If you’re against abortion then you’re against me.
4. Pregnancy is HARD. I have yet to have the honor of carrying a baby past a rough 8 week mark. But those early weeks have not been easy on my body either time. Pregnancy isn’t for everyone.
5. Everytime a woman has sex she risks everything and sex is something that shouldn’t be taboo or shameful, it’s wonderful and natural. Men on the other hand, while they have responsibilities to their actions, they don’t have to endure the trials of pregnancy. They don’t spend weeks sitting in front of the toilet or carrying an extra bag around just in case. They don’t pee their pants after sneezing. They don’t have the stretch marks from growing a human. They don’t have to deal with mastitis and clogged ducts and nurses handling your boobs to help a baby to latch. They don’t have a room full people looking at their penis waiting for a miracle hoping no stitches are needed.
6. Stop suggesting birth control as the answer. It’s not. Both of babies came with birth control. One on the pill and one being an IUD baby.
7. There are so many kids that need a home as it is. Instead of forcing a 16 year old to carry a baby and potentially have her drop out of school or put the baby up for adoption, apply to adopt or foster.
8. If your baby needs formula to survive, good luck. There’s a huge shortage. Let’s hope the baby are more or less forced to have doesn’t require special food. Let’s hope you produce enough milk to support it. Let’s hope you don’t have to watch your baby starve to death or watch someone else’s baby starve.
9. There is no such thing as ending abortions. There’s only ending safe ones. Remember reading or hearing about how many women used to die from closet or basement abortions? Be prepared to learn new numbers on those statistics.
10. This synapsis coming from a representative: “Rape is opportunity for women” is shameful. A true embarrassment from a woman. Doesn’t matter which side states or votes something. This is more about rich versus poor not democrat versus republican.
11. This from my husband… I shared the other night how heartbroken I was feeling with the loss of Jessie. The men in these situations feel it too. “I have written and deleted a bunch of statuses without posting today. It’s hard to process exactly how I want to express my feelings, especially when so much of it has been said by so many others more eloquent than me. I guess the contribution I can make is one that would actually affect me. I don’t talk about it much because I tend to internalize, but Hallie and I have lost two pregnancies since we started dating. That is an absolutely heart wrenching experience that I don’t wish on anyone. That’s one of the worst pains you can go through. So now, on top of that, people that are going through that terrible experience in some states will have the added on pleasure of having a criminal investigation carried out to find out if they got an abortion. Folks going through the absolute worst experience of their lives are going to be prosecuted for it. This is not okay. None of this is okay.”
