That’s Vegas, Baby!

For nearly two months now, I have been getting questions about what to do in Vegas, where to stay, what to see, etc. Well my slow behind is finally getting around to telling you! Although, I some how managed to guide you through Austin before Vegas even though there was more than a month between the two!

As a reminder… we were blessed to go to Las Vegas, Nevada for a bachelor party and were there Thursday through Sunday morning. We were able to see so many things, do several activities, and eat amazing food. Shout out to caffeine for keeping me functional the entire time 😉

Where we stayed:

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Desert Club Resort with all of our friends and had a blast! I can’t remember how many of us there were but we got 4 suites, which equaled out to the top floor of one of the “condos”. The hotel has a total of 5 pools and 1 of them happened to be right outside our building! I’ll link the hotel here.

What we did and saw:

Obviously while in Vegas, we tried our hand at some gambling. I am Nate’s good luck charm when it comes to Black Jack. I also learned that Black Jack in a casino is much more intense with more rules than Black Jack with my dad and brothers… So there is that but it was a great learning experience for us both. We quadrupled our money which is unheard of! I don’t have any particular casinos that I recommend as we were in and out of quite a few of them.

One of the main places that we spent our time was on East Freemont Street. This was my first “Vegas” experience truly… I had been to Las Vegas numerous times, but I had never been to Freemont Street or seen half the things we saw. There was a variety of vendors lining the street, zip line going above us, a few live concerts going, it was extremely loud, and tied together with whips (if you know what I mean…). I didn’t spend any time on the strip except to run to see the last 30 seconds of the Bellagio Fountain display on our last night there. The display was very neat from what we saw and is a must! The next time we are there, this will be higher on the list of things to see. There is tons of fascinating architecture all over the city. Keep your eyes peeled for designs but also on traffic!

I of course went with my new friends to get my first tattoo ever. I was more than excited and then very nervous. But it is the best conservation starter I have ever known. I got a chicken on my left shoulder! How in character of me, I know! It is the start to a sleeve that represents everything I am and/or love. Overall, the tattoo was painless and healed incredibly fast! We went to Club Tattoo, I believe 4 of us got tattoos and the 5th got her nose pierced.

While in Vegas, I got to have my first Top Golf experience. That is an interesting concept and the superior way of golfing, in my book. There were at least 12 bridal parties being celebrated the day we were there. But the food… oh man… the food was delicious! I was impressed!

Another very interesting spot to check out is Meow Wolf at Area 15. Some people tried to explain it to me a little bit, but I was not understanding what it was. Even after seeing it I’m not sure. Highly recommend you go and experience as much as you possibly can in that art display. We got the biggest cookies I have ever seen or had at Area 15!

The flower art display at the Wynn was breathtaking. Very vivid, very enticing, and very awe factor. Free to see and I recommend seeing it for sure, if it is there when you get there. The set up made it look like a temporary or semi- permanent display.

Funny enough, I learned how not play slots at a casino. I had never gambled for money or at a casino or even played any of the games outside of a kids arcade. So picture this, I have one dollar. I sit down at a machine and try asking Nate how to play it. Before he can finish explaining anything I hit the cash out button thinking it would progress the game. A couple of things happened here. A) I turned a dollar bill into a piece of paper that said $1.00. B) I realized what I did. C) We could not stop laughing, I had mascara running down my face, and now I’m not sure I will ever live it down. My advice: have a decent understanding of how casino games work before going to them.

Where we ate & drank:

As a side note: a group from the party had gone to Costco and stocked up on food and snacks for the party. We didn’t need to eat out for every meal and we had left overs on occasion 🙂

We had a huge brunch at the Wynn where the wait time was 2 or more hours if you didn’t have a reservation. Luckily we did! It was a buffet style/ serve yourself. The food was wonderful and just about everything you could ever hope for. The number of options was way too many in my opinion. It made it so hard to choose what you wanted to eat. But it was very good!

The first night there, we went to Nevada Brew Works. Some people had beers and ciders and some ordered food. The food was also incredible here. I’m not sure there was a single bad item on the menu. The BBQ chicken pizza was my favorite for sure.

Flippin’ Good Burgers is a funny name for a restaurant that has amazing chicken items on the menu. Our table each had a different chicken based meal and we were all very impressed. The couple of group members that got burgers said they were okay but the chicken seemed to be superior. This restaurant is just before Freemont Street (or technically is on Freemont Street- just before the chaos sections).

Of course we had In-n-Out… when in Rome, ya know? Unpopular opinion, but I don’t think In-n-Out tastes as great as it is hyped up to be. I completely appreciate the freshness factor but when I’m eating fast food like that I prefer good ol’ McDonalds almost every time. Although it is a staple so anytime you are somewhere that has one, stop in for lunch!

I believe that finally concludes our Las Vegas 2022 adventures! If you have any must do adds for this let me know! Or if you had a different experience than me, lets chat!

Happy Travels!
